What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, BJJ or Gracie Jiu Jitsu is a style of Jiu Jitsu developed and improved, mainly, by the GRACIE FAMILY in Brazil, based on the traditional Japanese Jujutsu, an ancient martial art that was originated in feudal Japan.
In Brazil, the Gracie family turned this sophisticated martial art in a effective self defense weapon for street fights.
Today a combat sport and an efficient mean of self-defense, the knowledge of Jiu Jitsu allows the practitioner, through the application of specific techniques, to control and immobilize the opponent, in the process of reaching submission through strangulations (chokes) or attacks on the joints, such as arm bars, or joints locks for example.
It is a sport that teaches a fragile person to defend himself against stronger opponents using leverage and body positioning, being able to neutralize the aggressor's attacks without necessarily injuring him.
It can be practiced by anyone, of all ages. Get in contact with us and set your free trial class!
